~ある司祭からの手紙:ご聖体拝領について~(2005年2月)

Good morning, Teruko. It is a beautiful day here and the snow has finally stopped.
The novices are all out shovelling snow this morning. I’m sorry I am a bit late in responding. Yes, it was wonderful to talk with you on the phone the other day and you sound very good. You asked me to write down what I said on the phone. Keep it very simple.

1) Simply turn your heart to God (kaishin = turning heart) and say, “I am sorry for ANYTHING and EVERYTHING in my life which has been displeasing to you, my God. I am truly sorry, and I love you, my Lord and my God.”

2) Feel free to receive Eucharist at any time, because Eucharist is NOT a reward to be given to good people. It is the food for the journey. You can go to Eucharist whenever you DESIRE Eucharist or NEED Eucharist.

3) Trust God and recall ALL the GOOD and BEAUTIFUL things you do every day of your life – all the fullfilled responsibilities, the prayers, the kind acts, the compassion, humor, patience, etc. etc. etc. 99% of your life is beautiful in the sight of God. Trust God!

You can print this out and read it once in a while! Lots of Love and Prayers,
flavian
